The name Cellier des Dauphins, which is the main brand of the L'Union des Vignerons des Côtes du Rhône (UVCDR), comes from the location of its vineyards which belonged to the French "Dauphin" (Son of the King).

Since the establishment of Cellier des Dauphins in 1967, the wine growers of the eleven co-operatives members (see UVCDR ) have been taking part in many projects for the rewarding of their products, their area and their appellation.

Then they were involved in the creation of The Wine University, located in the Castle of Suze la Rousse (Drome area).

In June 1986, they opened the "Caves-Cathédrales" (ageing cellars) in St Restitut. This old freestone quarry which remained unused since the end of World War II, has been turned into an amazing ageing cellar and a promotion site for their wines.

Eventually, the Castle of Rochegude and recently the Castle of l'Estagnol complete this prestigious regional property.

Nowadays it is compulsory to talk about "Cellier des Dauphins" when one talks about the Côtes du Rhône wine market as it is now the leading French brand of AOC wines (French quality label)

60 Million bottles sold annually and a significant sales network both witness the achievement of the company's main goal : a worldwide distribution.

To start the new millenium, a bottling and storage plant is being built in order to adapt Cellier des Dauphins to the technical evolution of quality standards. The new premises represent a hundred Million FRF investment. (See Cellier des Dauphins 2000 in the News section).
